E85 Tune

Post by xco93 »

Helllo,

Why did you not include a RX-8 E85 Tune in the default database of Versatune Lite ?
Can we get a "E85EU Octane tune for 100% stock 6 port RX-8" based on "91US/95EU Octane tune for 100% stock 6 port RX-8" when we buy Versatuner full version ?

I'm considering buying versatuner vs installing an eflexfuel modue to run E85 (please note i'm live in france where E85 is half the price of SP95").

Best Regards

We have not developed an E85 tune, because people like to use different blends, so it's hard to make a one size fits all solution. With the full version you get access to the Tune Editor that you can use to build one yourself, if you have the skills.
You can also contact one of our e-tuning partners and get a custom tune built for you: https://www.versatuner.com/etuning
Custom tunes can be flashed with VersaTuner Lite.

Hello,

Quick update i have open a github project in order to maintain my E-85 tune(s).
So far 40Km driven since the flash on the 1.02 of my tune, no issue yet despite not enough background yet on cold start.

Feel free to review/comment my tune availlable here : https://github.com/xcorbel/RX8-E85-Vtune

Nice.
Thanks for sharing.

I'll check it out for sure.
Tho where I am in Canada there really isn't a e85 scene.

V1.07
Absolute limits - Maximum operating Load table - (this tables sets the max fuelling air flow.. ie, for example for 2000 rpm, max load defined is 0.8275. this means, the fuel will be maxed to air flow resulting in 0.8275 load even if you flow 1.2 load worth of air.

Fueling - Target AFR
E85 in general responds the same way as normal with the reduced need for knock "controll" fuel cooling. ie, if rich AFR was targeted due to knock, it is no longer needed.
your targeting 0.75 which is not needed even for strong boost let alone NA... aim at 0.88-0.90 and you still have a lot of margin here... you are leaving a lot of power on the table.

your VE is very high, could be due to first part of my comment.

Oil injection / load - use 10 as a minimum, that is the position of the OMP at which it is roughly linear % to the fuel flow.. the oem is very very lean on fuel in cruising condition. very bad in combination with e85..

genneral engine comments:
if you run sohn adapter, than I would use Castor based oils (maxima 927, Klotz, Putoline Castor R, ect) exclusively.
for e 85 you need also compatible engine oil.
